Marlegno, a company specialized in the design and construction of prefabricated wooden solutions for the building industry optimizing time, cost, and quality, has inaugurated its new headquarters in Calcinate, in the province of Bergamo. The project, which reflects values of efficiency and sustainability, includes 12,000 sqm of production space and a multi-storey office building entirely made of wood, covering over 2,000 sqm, designed to accommodate the company’s future expansion. The development has achieved LEED GOLD certification, confirming its commitment to environmental sustainability.
Designed by architect Riccardo Minelli of ARCHIlabs, the headquarters stands out for its essential geometries, clean lines, and abundant natural light. The concept is based on the dialogue between materials: wood, the company’s signature element, is combined with concrete and glass, creating a balance between solidity and transparency. The façade is defined by a reinforced concrete wall intersected by protruding wooden volumes, punctuated by rigorous openings softened by angled reveals.
The lighting design, carried out with fixtures from PERFORMANCE iN LIGHTING, enhances each space with solutions aimed at ensuring energy efficiency, safety, and visual quality.
The external access roads are illuminated by INDEX+ bollards, winners of the iF Design Award 2025, which provide uniform light with no upward emissions, helping reduce light pollution thanks to their patented optics.
The entrances feature dynamic compositions of SL713PL ROUND LED pendant fixtures and SL713AB ROUND LED ceiling fixtures, creating a strong visual impact and offering diffuse, welcoming light. The showroom and offices are lit by site-specific configurations of suspended light channels from the SL764+ PL and SL787+ PL series, designed using the LIGHT PERFORMER online configurator. In the showroom, these solutions form quadrangular geometries to enhance the display, while in other areas they are installed in linear versions with direct light for workstations and indirect light to highlight the wooden ceilings.
In the meeting rooms, PLATO 600 MP fixtures recessed into the false ceilings provide versatile and functional lighting, suitable for various uses from educational activities to group work. Corridors are illuminated by downlights of various types and sizes, including ELIA AL and DL ROUND MIDI, while WL260 SQUARE fixtures, installed on walls or ceilings, ensure safety and visual comfort in stairways and transit areas.
The entire design process, both architectural and lighting, was supported by parametric 3D modeling technologies using BIM (Building Information Modeling), enabling accurate and rapid visualization of component interactions from the design phase, contributing to the achievement of high standards of energy sustainability in the construction
