ChorusLife: the Light that shapes the city of the future

In November 2024, ChorusLife came to life in Bergamo—a pioneering urban regeneration project that redefines the concept of a smart district. Born from the vision of Cavaliere Domenico Bosatelli and designed by architect Joseph di Pasquale, this new neighborhood represents an integrated model of environmental, economic, and social sustainability, transforming a former industrial area into a cutting-edge urban ecosystem.

Designed to foster social interaction, daily well-being, and intergenerational inclusion, ChorusLife offers spaces and services for all ages: a residence with 74 build-to-rent apartments (the first of its kind in the city), a four-star superior hotel with 107 rooms under the Radisson brand, an 8,000 m² Urban SPA, over 10,000 m² dedicated to retail and dining, and a network of plazas animated by architectural arcades that invite gathering and sharing.

At the heart of the district stands the ChorusLife Arena, an impressive 6,500-seat venue clad in a “vibrant skin” made of thousands of aluminum tiles, creating a stunning iridescent effect. This architectural feature, patented in collaboration with Gualini (COSTIM Group) and certified by the Politecnico di Milano, is now managed by ASM Global, making the Arena an international hub for events, shows, and conferences.

Lighting for Every Environment

Outdoor Spaces and Green Areas
For urban outdoor lighting, Urban [O]3 systems were selected, customized with cameras and antennas to combine energy efficiency with security. These are complemented by TYK+ 20 professional floodlights mounted on poles to illuminate the main plaza.
INSERT+ ZERO recessed fixtures with step-marker functionality light and secure the stairways distributed across the outdoor areas, while QUASAR 20 wall-mounted fixtures illuminate the stairway entrances.

Apartments and Gardens
In the residential areas, accent lighting is provided by professional TYK+ 10 floodlights and CRICKET+ 15 in-ground recessed fixtures to highlight vegetation and plants. General lighting for green areas is ensured by SPILLO MINI POST and MIMIK 10 POST bollards.
Inside the apartments, ChoruSmart Lux plates and Home & Building PRO panels complete the experience with a sleek, intuitive design.

Arena and Technical Areas
The spectacular ChorusLife Arena is lit by Smart [PRO] 2.0 floodlights, designed for large sports venues. Technical areas and the Sky Box feature ChoruSmart plates and high-performance distribution boards.
In the large common areas surrounding the Arena, custom compositions of SL764+ PL suspended light channels and SL764+ RF recessed versions integrate seamlessly with the architecture, creating striking geometric and linear patterns. Additional linear configurations use SL787+ RE recessed channels in the underground locker rooms.
General lighting is completed by various ceiling-recessed fixtures such as DL SQUARE MIDI, DL ROUND MAXI, and DLSB100 LED.
In the Arena’s exterior access zones, dozens of LM4 ceiling-mounted fixtures illuminate the surroundings. These were specially produced in a black-painted version to be visually unobtrusive and well-integrated.

Hotel and Common Areas
Inside the hotel, common areas are lit with linear lighting systems using SL764+ PL and SL764+ RF fixtures, offering a decorative component that blends perfectly with the architectural space. PLATO 600 MP fixtures provide supplementary lighting.
For offices, press rooms, and other rooms, round fixtures in various versions and sizes were installed, including FL ROUND+ 777 PL and FL ROUND+ 333 PL (suspended), and FL ROUND+ 333 SM (ceiling-mounted). These spaces are further illuminated by DL ROUND MIDI and DLSB150 LED downlights, also used in corridors and bathrooms.
Both guest rooms and common areas benefit from smart lighting and comfort management solutions.

Public and Private Parking
Over 6,000 Smart [3] ceiling-mounted fixtures, controlled via KNX protocol, ensure efficient and adaptive lighting in the parking areas, optimizing energy consumption based on actual space usage.

The ChorusLife project goes beyond lighting. It integrates advanced GEWISS solutions for:

Energy distribution with CVX 630/1600 panels, IEC 309 HP sockets, Q-DIN boards, and BRN/BRX/BRM trunking systems.
Home automation and control with the ChoruSmart KNX civil series, ThermoICE thermostats, and the Home & Building PRO system.
Electric mobility with 44 JOINON I-CON EVO chargers for daily use and 6 JOINON I-FAST 60 kW stations for fast charging.

ChorusLife is a tangible demonstration of how technology can enhance the quality of urban life. A project where light is not just functional, but also emotional, safe, and sustainable.
