Marlegno, a company specialized in the design and construction of prefabricated wooden solutions for the building industry optimizing time, cost, and quality, has inaugurated its new headquarters in Calcinate, in the province of Bergamo. The project, which reflects values of efficiency and sustainability, includes 12,000 sqm of production space and a multi-storey office building entirely made of wood, covering over 2,000 sqm, designed to accommodate the company’s future expansion. The development has achieved LEED GOLD certification, confirming its commitment to environmental sustainability.
Designed by architect Riccardo Minelli of ARCHIlabs, the headquarters stands out for its essential geometries, clean lines, and abundant natural light. The concept is based on the dialogue between materials: wood, the company’s signature element, is combined with concrete and glass, creating a balance between solidity and transparency. The façade is defined by a reinforced concrete wall intersected by protruding wooden volumes, punctuated by rigorous openings softened by angled reveals.
The lighting design, carried out with fixtures from PERFORMANCE iN LIGHTING, enhances each space with solutions aimed at ensuring energy efficiency, safety, and visual quality.
The external access roads are illuminated by INDEX+ bollards, winners of the iF Design Award 2025, which provide uniform light with no upward emissions, helping reduce light pollution thanks to their patented optics.
The entire design process, both architectural and lighting, was supported by parametric 3D modeling technologies using BIM (Building Information Modeling), enabling accurate and rapid visualization of component interactions from the design phase, contributing to the achievement of high standards of energy sustainability in the construction
