LEIPZIG MUSEUM

Leipzig - Germany

  • CUSTOMER: Leipzig's municipality
  • ARCHITECT / DESIGNER: Hufnagel Pütz Rafaelian Architekten
  • PHOTOGRAPHER: Andreas Braun

Performance in Lighting provides the light engineering project for the Museum of Figurative Art in Leipzig. Built by architects Hufnagel/Putz/Rafaelian in the city centre, it is situated near the Church of St. Nikolai and the old town hall.

The building, which includes a rectangular structure with glass facades, is 78 m long, 41 m wide and 36 m high. The lighting concept refers to the architectural features by exploiting Spittler’s recessed products with an SL787 microprism diffuser.

These lighting fixtures have been studied to light up environments, profiles and bright ceilings, to enhance the entire background lighting, to direct the light beam only towards the exhibited works, both vertically and horizontally. The ceilings are made of multi layer safety laminated glass with integrated profiles designed to ensure excellent dispersion and transmission of light.
