AQUATICS PALACE

The Aquatics Palace in Kazan, designed by SPEECH Architectural Office in Moscow, is one of the best sports facilities dedicated to swimming disciplines in all of Russia. 

The lighting project was overseen by HELIOCITY who chose HORO and RAY series professional projectors to illuminate the pools and stands. The high performance of the products provided by PERFORMANCE iN LIGHTING guarantee lighting in conformance with standards required by the International Swimming Federation regulations for top-level competitions such as the diving competitions of the Kazan 2015 World Championships held here.

The imposing structure is 187m long by 84m wide and features a dynamic wooden roof structure up to 25m high, the shape of which recalls the movement of a wave.The choice of laminated timber was dictated by high standards of environmental sustainability, it is in fact one of the most environmentally friendly building materials as it is easily recyclable and usable without polluting surface treatments and features significant structural performance even in high humidity conditions.

In total there are three pools: one 33,3m x 25m for diving equipped with boards and platform and two 50m x 25m Olympic-size pools dedicated to swimming. There is also a fitness centre and various food service areas. Parallel to the pools are the grandstands with seating for about 3,000 spectators special mobile structures able to accommodate 1000 more. The general lighting took this into account so that spectators can watch the competitions with maximum visual comfort free of glare in any position.
